Ivan the Jester
This show was inspired by the rich legends of Russian folklore; poetry, mood and joy. The base of all Russian legends is the cold of the north, the snow and the severities of the winter. We will also not be able to forget the dry and hot summers of central Asia. On 21 of December the solstice of winter is celebrated. This is celebrated in the interior north of Russia with great enthusiasm and joy. It is from this day that the Sun returns to heat the land punished by the cold winter.
The Jester, Ivan, arrives. Ivan is a coarse and ugly personage, but with bonanza qualities for music and is exceptionally fond of the sounds of the flute. He is the delight of children and frees the smile of the adults. The night falls and the solitude attacks Ivan. On 21 of June all are congregated together to the river. On this night the youngsters choose the most beautiful girls to frolic with. A wizard appears who abducts the Snow Beauty. Ivan lost his love, and is fuelled with courage and goes to free her. He is unsuccessful.
The gypsies are having dancing and foreseeing the future through the reading of the letters. With their aid he discovers the palace of the wizard. After freeing the girl all rejoice and the fun continues for days.
